OPI LIQUID SAND 'THE IMPOSSIBLE' (LIMITED EDITION MARIAH CAREY) REVIEW

Whenever I think about Mariah Carey, the first thing that comes into my mind is DIVA. So its really no surprise that OPI gives her a line that's called "Liquid Sand". This is a new variant from OPI which I believe would be coming out more in their collections.

PROSTYLE FUWARIE END CURLING MIST REVIEW

I've been looking for an inexpensive heat protectant product, and luckily I stumbled upon the Prostyle Fuwarie End Curling Mist while strolling around Beauty Bar!

Korea Post #3: (Must-See Places!) Nami Island

ll be sharing about our trip to Nami Island, which is located outside of Seoul. We had to take a train (different from the subway system, sorry but I forgot the place where we took this, but its the nearest train station from Myeongdong).

MAJOLICA MAJORCA LASH and BROW COLORIST REVIEW

Having dark brows and light hair has always been a problem for me. I have always tried to put a little hair dye on my brows (which I do NOT recommend for anyone to do because this may cause severe skin irritation OR burn your skin) to lighten them up, but it hasn't worked.

ETUDE HOUSE BUBBLE HAIR COLORING IN SWEET ORANGE REVIEW

I finally tried the Sweet Orange shade of the Etude House Bubble Hair Coloring! Its a brighter shade compared to the Natural Brown, and makes your hair tons lighter.

Projectvanity.com's Dr. Jart Give-away!

Hey guys! Projectvanity.com is having a Dr. Jart BB Cream give-away. They're giving away 15ml tubes of the Black and Silver Label, as well as a few samples. I suggest if you're an avid BB cream lover like me to join the give-away! Or if you're just curious and want to try using it, go go go and join!
Here's what you need to do to win one of them:
1. Answer the question: What BB cream variant do you want to win and why?
2. Post your answer on your blog (5 raffle entries), Facebook page (3 raffle entries - make sure the post is set to public so I can view), Twitter account (1 raffle entry), and/or Plurk account (1 entry).
3. Make sure that your post includes the following: the contest poster as seen above, a link to Projectvanity.com, and the contest mechanics. You will be disqualified without all three requirements in your post.
4. Lastly, leave a comment on this post providing the links of all your contest entries. If you don't leave a comment, I won't know you joined. Open to Philippine residents only.
So even with all the BB creams I've reviewed in this blog, why do I still want to get my hands on a Dr. Jart's?

I am honestly a one big BB cream addict! I really want to be able to try all the variants out there. BB cream has done wonders for my complexion and if I can only get a sample of the Dr. Jart's Silver Label, I can see what this product that people are raving about has to offer.
I prefer the Silver Label because I'm fair-skinned and I don't use BB creams that have anti-wrinkle properties. My face is also oily so I prefer something that can really conceal my skin.

Don't forget to visit Projectvanity.com for more info about this contest!

Tokyo P.O.S.H.: Hair Extensions the Easy Way!

I have always been envious of girls who could grow out their hair without worrying about the heaviness of their hair, and the girls who could always style their hair into big fluffy curls anytime they wanted. I've always wanted to try out those expensive curling procedures in salons just to get these things on my hair.
Because unfortunately, my own set of locks cannot hold a single curl! Yes, not even after a powerful dose of hairspray. You see, the problem is that my hair's just TOO STRAIGHT. Its the extreme version of the too curly hair!

The idea of wearing hair extensions also gave me the heebie-jeebies--I just couldn't imagine spending a mini-fortune to get pieces weaved into your hair. Not only would it take too long, it would also be heavy on the pocket.

Here's where Tokyo P.O.S.H. comes in. They just recently opened up shop in Rockwell, Powerplant Mall and they provide you the possibility of changing your hairstyle whenever you want to.
TOKYO POSH is the first in the Philippines to specialize on put on hair extensions. We all need a change every now and then. From our clothes to the music we listen to, a little bit of variety is great sometimes. So, why should we have the same hairstyle day in and day out? With put on hair extensions, we can look and feel like a new person -- any time we want to.
Clip-on hair extensions are a temporary way to change your look. Some clip-on hair extensions are small sections of hair attached to metal clips, much like barrettes. This type of clip-on hair extension is not meant to be used alone and you will need at least three or four of them. You simply clip the extension wherever you need added volume or body. Then the hair can be styled as usual. These hair extensions can be either synthetic or natural.
The shop has a wide variety of styles you can choose from. You can choose from extensions, buns, full wigs, long ponytails, or half wigs. The prices range from P900-P3000.
I have to say I was reluctant in trying out clip-on hair extensions. The image that came to my mind was that if I had it on, it would somehow lose grip on my hair and just fall down, or something would just go wrong!

But my mind changed when I tried it out. And it's so easy to put on! You just...
1) Part your hair into a half pony.
2) Attach your hair extensions with the clips.
3) Shake, blend and go!
Here's my hair extensions: (I got the Jessica one because its only medium length plus it has reddish streaks)

Lioele BB Cream + 2NE1 for Etude House Henna Fix Mascara and Jewelry Pencil reviews

Hey guys! I got tons of products from Japanese Candy and since I've used them for more than 2 weeks now, I'm ready to give nice consistent reviews!
Fr. L-R: 2NE1 Henna Fix Proof 10 Mascara in Black, 2NE1 Proof 10 Jewelry Pencil in Silver, Liole Beyond the Solution BB Cream and samples

I'll start with the Lioele BB Cream. I bought this because I've heard so many good reviews of the product, especially from Jen of FromHeadtoToe.com. I've heard that it gives a nice matte finish and so I wanted to try it because I have extremely oily skin.
You have to give ti to Lioele for the extra cute packaging! Just looking at it makes me want to buy it already! This bottle contains 50ml of product. What the box says:
HOW TO USE:
After last step of skincare, softly apply adequate amount on your face and make it absorbed with tapping.
Instructions in Engrish, I love it!

Max's Chicken-All-You-Can Promo: Only P165 for Unlimited Chicken!

Have you guys tried the Max's CHICKEN-ALL-YOU-CAN that's on-going in ALL their branches right now? Its unlimited chicken for only P165 and you can avail of it everyday from 6-10PM. This is part of their promo for their 65th anniversary this June.
I of course, did not let this opportunity pass up and so boyfriend and I went to the Max's that's nearest to me, which is their Jupiter branch. I have to admit I was kind of dubious because the restaurant isn't exactly known for their big servings.

There were still so many people eating even past 8:30 PM! I arrived and saw tables with heaps of bones on it, so that was definitely a good sign!

Next Monday, prepare yourself for a new fashion-serye to unveil itself.
It's RIVALRY, VENGEANCE, LOVE and FASHION all in one show! We've been hearing the Tweet wars, now we'll see if the wars have paid off. Starring Gretchen Barretto and Bea Alonzo as sisters in fierce competition in the fashion industry.
And just because Derek Ramsay has to expose his abs even in the poster...(and they had to put Erich Gonzales in an ill-fitting wig)

And now, the longest trailer known to Philippine television, ready to tell you EVERYTHING that's going to happen in the series:

I gotta be honest, wala akong na-gets! But all I can say is...akin nalang si Enchong Dee!
Side note: Siyempre nanay na naman si Dimples Romana.

To Thread or Not to Thread?

I don't know about you, but eyebrows can do so much wonders (or non-wonders) for one's face. Since we're girls, we have to take charge of the bushy-ness growing within from our face, our arms, down to the barest parts. There is nothing as shocking as a uni-brow and fortunately, there are various methods for removing the hair up there.
How do you maintain your eyebrows? I go with the slow but powerful process of threading. Some who are skillful enough go with plucking or shaving their own brows.

It's interesting to know that threading is actually an ancient practice used to remove the hair in Asian countries, specifically in Saudi Arabia, India, and Vietnam. I was equally surprised to see a lot of threading kiosks in malls at New Jersey when I went to the US. Just imagine sitting there for the entire world to see with your hair being taken out. Yikes!

For those who are unaware, the process involves the technician (or threader?) using a long piece of thread to pull along the tiny hairs on your face. The thread actually works as a mini-lasso and plucks the hair out quickly. If you're not used to plucking, get ready to tear up a bit! But I have to say its less painful than plucking your facial hairs out with a tweezer.
What I mostly like about threading is that it's done super fast and there's no fear of over-tweezing. It's also better to thread your eyebrows instead of shaving them because when they grow out, the hairs become coarser.

Threading services are usually offered in beauty salons where they can range from the super expensive to the cheap ones. Here are some suggested places:

1) Browhaus in Serendra, The Fort- P580
2) Bench Fix- P150
3) Acqua Salon in Trinoma- P120
4) Headzone in Trinoma- P120
5) Lay Bare- P100

My go-to place for anything hair removal is Lay Bare, especially because they are the most inexpensive of the bunch. The techinicians also work quickly--as there are a lot of customers to serve! Make sure to book an appointment with them if you want to get your brows done, or risk waiting for a long time!

Oh-oh-oh-oh Usher Live in Manila!!!

GEO Super Size Angel Brown Review

I got a new pair of circle lens and it arrived last Thursday together with a few cosmetics (reviews on those in the future to come!). I've been wanting to get a brown pair and I took my chances and got one with a 14.8mm diameter. That's pretty big for me since my previous lens which are the GEO Love Violet and GEO Fresh Grey are a mere 14mm and the latter is I think smaller.

I got my lenses from JapCandy and here's how they make sure they don't budge at all:
After you take apart the packaging, here's how it looks like still inside their bottles. The lenses are carefully sealed in so you have to be careful not to cut yourself while opening them.

Korea Post #2: (Must-see places) LOTTE WORLD + LOTTE STAR AVENUE!

There are a lot of theme parks in Seoul, and naturally you only have time to visit ONE on your trip. If I were you, I would head over to Lotte World instead of Everland (which also has a zoo, if you like that kind of thing) especially when you come during the cold times.
Me clowning around at the subway station

Lotte World is located in Seoul, so to get there, we had to ride the train from Myeong-dong (where our hotel was located) to the Jamsil Station, Subway Line 2 & 8. The theme park can be located at Exit #4. The subway system in Korea is so easy and convenient to use. Don't worry if you can't speak a thing in Korean, there are English signs all over so you won't get lost.

The theme park is composed of so many parts, but basically there's an outdoor theme park called 'Magic Island' as well as an indoor theme park.

Magic Island, which has a castle similar to another castle in Disneyland

The indoor theme park with more rides inside plus a live stage where many K-pop artists perform

Finding a New Schoolbag with Charles & Keith

I know a lot of lucky students out there are only starting their school on Tuesday, June 15 and are now scrambling around buying school supplies such as pens, paper, pencils, planners, highlighters, etc. But an essential item that we all have to keep in mind is the SCHOOL BAG.
The problem though is that most of us aren't in elementary school anymore who have the luxury to just lug around a nice flashy pink stroller and just stuff all our school things in and wheel it around. We need something that's stylish, roomy and comfortable.

I was on the hunt for a new school bag today (yeah sue me, school already started last Monday and I only looked for one now) and sure enough, I found the perfect one from my favorite store, Charles and Keith!
This bag absolutely screamed at me to get it. Like I saw it and it just yelled, I'M YOUR SCHOOL BAG! (Btw that's how crazy I am, it's exactly how I shop. I only get things that scream TAKE MEEE!) The leather feels extremely nice and its just so perfect (for me).
I love love loooove how roomy and spacious it is without looking too bulky:
I can't believe my biggest law school books can fit in so easily inside this bag! It's a dream come true! I seriously have the hardest time buying bags because I'm not a bag person and I'm so happy I was able to buy something that fits my criteria.
This bag retails for P2,299.00 in Charles & Keith.

A new Philippines awaits!

Today was the proclamation of the final results of our country's first ever automated elections.
Congratulations to our new President, Benigno Aquino, Jr. and our new Vice-President, Jejomar Binay.
Just so you know, Aquino is the 15th President of the Republic of the Philippines.

Hopefully this will be a brand new day for all Filipinos everywhere. Pink Sun Spots wishes these two a great term and a brighter future ahead.
I seriously do hope that Filipinos support this presidency, and just start afresh.

Krissy finally admits she recommended Boy to Noy! (BOY-NOY?)

So Kris Aquino admits that she was the one who suggested to her brother, (almost) President Noynoy to get Boy Abunda as his tourism secretary.
I honestly have no qualms at all with people who are in the entertainment industry to be involved with government work. But as I said in my previous blog entry about this matter, Boy Abunda is wise to say that he is not accepting this position in Noy's cabinet as he still wants to continue his contract in ABS-CBN and work as a TV host. That is the right thing to do.

You just cannot mix politics and working another job. Serving the country is not a part-time job (ahem Bong Revilla). But we have to face facts that a big part of tourism here in the Philippines, especially for our balikbayans is our entertainment industry. Just look at Korea and the United States. A number of their tourist attractions are filming locations, tours of the stars' homes, etc. These countries earn big bucks from tourists who go to these countries just to appreciate these places. Comparing these to the Philippines, a lot of balikbayans visit shows such as ASAP, Wowowee, to experience seeing the stars and even buy so many DVDs or VCDs of the series they watched through the Filipino channels abroad. So there is nothing wrong with getting someone from the showbiz industry to head the tourism in the country.

But that person should do it as a full-time job, NOT as a job on the side.

On that note, Dingdong Dantes CANNOT head Noynoy's youth projects. Is he even part of the "youth" at the age of 30!?!?

YesAsia Shopping Guide!

After numerous questions regarding my online shopping through YesAsia.com, I'm finally providing a shopping guide for all noobs. But first things first:

What exactly is YesAsia?
In the YesAsia.com website, you can choose from a vast range of products, including books, electronic goods, music CDs, videos in both DVD and VCD formats, comics, video games and accessories, and gift items such as posters, photo albums, calendars and collectibles.
YesAsia mostly specializes in Asian CDs and DVDs and actually has a sister site called Yesstyle which features Asian fashion for men and women.
What do you like most about YesAsia?
Their customer service is excellent, they respond to your questions quickly and they address all your concerns before and after purchasing. There are also many payment options and they offer FREE SHIPPING if your order is more than US$39.
Any downside to YesAsia?
A lot of people may find that the site has more expensive goods than other online shops like GMarket, but what makes up for it is that it is so much easier to browse and search for the product you want to buy.

Let's get on with the guide!

STEP 1: GOING TO YES-ASIA.COM. On your browser, type in yesasia.com/global and proceed to either SIGN IN (if you already have an account) or REGISTER (if you still don't have an account).
Note: The YesAsia website for international orders is different from the one for US orders. So if you reside in the US, make sure you do not go to the global site and register instead in the US site.

Step 2: SIGNING IN OR REGISTER. Proceed to SIGN IN or SIGN UP NOW. Choosing the latter option will lead you to a short sign-up form that's pretty self-explanatory. Just completely fill out the necessary details then you might have to confirm your email address. After confirming, log-in and proceed to Step 3.
Step 3: SEARCHING FOR YOUR ITEM. On the search box placed on the topmost part of the website, enter the keywords of the item you're looking for. For example, I want to buy SNSD's Run Devil Run album so I type in 'SNSD' as my keyword.
Note: Remember to uncheck the box which states "Include Out Of Stock Item Results (#)" as not to make a mistake of ordering an out-of-stock item. Even if you choose an out-of-stock item, YesAsia will not allow you to order this.
Step 4: FINDING YOUR DESIRED ITEM. Scroll down and look for the product that you want. Ah, here it is! Click on the name of your item and proceed to Step 5.
Step 5: ADDING TO CART OR SAVING FOR LATER? Clicking on your item's link will lead you to this page. You can either choose to add the item to your cart OR choose to save it for later.
Step 6: SAVING FOR LATER. If you click (2) or save for later, this pop-up would appear and there will be a notification that you have already saved this item for later. The benefit of having this save for later is that it doesn't immediately go to your shopping cart and you wouldn't make a mistake in purchasing it if in the end you don't want to.
Step 7: VIEWING YOUR SAVED ITEMS. When you view the items you have already saved, the page will show you that your shopping cart is empty. But you have the option to add your saved item to your shopping cart OR deleting it. I suggest saving the items you want prior to adding it to you shopping cart so that you are sure of your purchases.
Step 8: ADDING TO YOUR SHOPPING CART. If, however, you choose to add the item to your shopping cart, this pop-up would appear stating the number of items in your shopping cart.
Step 9: VIEWING YOUR SHOPPING CART. From either the item page or your saved items list, proceed to view your shopping cart if you are ready to make your purchase. Review the items first prior to clicking PROCEED TO CHECK-OUT. If you want to view the gift card options as you are giving the item as a gift, do not forget to check the box below the PROCEED TO CHECK-OUT link.
Step 10: ACCOUNT SIGN IN FOR CHECKOUT. One of YesAsia's protocol measures before payment is that they ask you to sign in again prior to checking out your item/s. You can either sign in on this page if you are paying through Credit Card, check/money order, or direct deposits. But if you are using your Paypal to pay for you items, click on (2) SIGN IN & CHECK-OUT WITH PAYPAL.
Methods of Payment:
YesAsia allows credit card, Paypal, check/money order and direct deposit as the various modes of payment.
Credit card - you would have to enter your credit card information in your account page. Make sure that all the information is correct. It might take some time for your card to be validated so be patient. Remember, its for your own security!
Paypal- if you have a Paypal account or have plans of making one, you can use this to purchase your items.
Check/money order- if you choose this option, you can send your check or money order to YesAsia's office:
YesAsia.com Limited
(Attn.: Accounting Department)
9/F., Watson Centre
16-22 Kung Yip Street
Kwai Chung, N.T.
Hong Kong
Remember that it may take up to 7 days for your check to be cleared and you can only make your payment in either US Dollars or Hongkong Dollars, they don't take other currencies.
Direct deposit- ONLY AVAILABLE FOR HONGKONG DELIVERY!

Step 11: GOING OVER PAYMENT DETAILS. Go over your payment details, such as your shipping address, your credit card billing address, etc. Make sure to double, triple check this! (Sorry, no more screenshots after this because I'm sure you guys know all about security, right?) During this step, you will also choose the type of shipping and delivery.

SHIPPING AND DELIVERY:
As I said before, YesAsia offers FREE STANDARD SHIPPING for orders more than $39. Unfortunately there is no free express shipping regardless of how much you order. Here is a shipping calculator so you can compute how much you might be spending!
STANDARD SHIPPING- takes 6-14 days. Around $5, but it depends on how many items you're ordering. For us living in the Philippines, my experience had me waiting for a month for the goods to arrive. But you can always message the people from YesAsia if you have haven't received your goods during the said time and they will re-ship your product without extra cost.
(NOTE: the 1 month waiting was my experience BEFORE, when I recently ordered, it arrived within the promised timeframe. I think they changed couriers or something, so choosing FREE STANDARD SHIPPING is now highly recommended!)
EXPRESS SHIPPING- takes 3-5 days. Aroudn $13, and also depends on how many items you're ordering. The good thing about this is that you're given a tracking number and you're not left wondering where your package is. But beware of extra charges that the shipping company might charge you when your package does arrive.

Step 12: CONFIRM YOUR PURCHASE. Finalize your purchase and WAIT. I suggest waiting for the orders to be shipped out and letting those number of days pass before you contact YesAsia looking for your package.^^

MOST COMMONLY ASKED Q's:
Here is a compilation of the questions you asked me from my 1st blogpost about YesAsia. If you have any other questions, please do feel free to ask!

1)  Q: hi ate!!! pwede po ba malaman kung pano ung process and mga kailangan para mkapag order sa yes asia?? gusto ko po kc mg order eh,, pls reply po ,, thank you,,

lovinia viloria

A: ordering in yesasia is pretty easy, but you should first get an account by registering in their global site if you're from the philippines. there are instructions from there.

the basic premise is that like any online shopping, you first choose the product/s you want then you have the option to have it shipped through standard or express. express will be pricier (esp bec DHL puts in some extra costs that aren't suppose to be there when your package arrives). my 1st order was standard shipping and it arrived within a month rather than the 7-14 days which is "normal" daw. but anyway if you don't get your package within the said number of days, yesasia will re-ship it free of charge when you inform them.

btw you also need to have either a credit card or paypal account to pay for your item.:)

2) Hi there! I'm also interested in buying stuff from YesAsia, and I'm also from the Philippines. My main concern is if your package gets delivered to your home personally, or if you have to pick it up pa from the post office. (When we ordered stuff from Amazon, we had to go all the way to the post office to get it!)

I'm presuming yours got delivered on your doorstep even with standard shipping?

:D

A: if you choose standard shipping, you have to pick it up at the post office. you also can't track your package and won't be receving a tracking number. if it's express, they deliver it to your house with an extra charge. ganun talaga with DHL, they have weird charges for "handling". but you can track your package all the time with the tracking number they'll be giving you.

i honestly don't know why it takes so long for the package to arrive since its supposedly from HK, but i guess that's just the way philippine customs handles it.

3) Q: HMM,thank you po.. so sa jan 23 po kc expect arrival nung cd so,,jan 23 po kaya tlga xa darating?? sa nman pong post office kukunin sa main po ba or ung pinkamalapit smin?? my nkpagsabi din po n may darating n notice from post office pag ready to pick up n po ung package,, is it true.. thank you again

A: if its express, yes it will arrive by that date. if its standard, you have to wait for the notice from the post office to arrive so you can pick up your package from there.
4) Q: matagal po ba talaga ung process ng card verification sa credit card pag first time mg order sa yesasia.. it's been 3 days na po since ng order ako(sat-mon) credit card verification pa din ung status ng order ko,, thank you po,, again,,
A: try inquiring to yesasia why its taking a long time, sometimes you have to call your credit card company to let them allow yesasia to process it. for me, it only took a few minutes to get my credit card verified.

That's it! I know a lot of you are emailing me asking about GMarket, I'm going to try it out by next month, I've already made a Paypal account so stay tuned for that!

Noynoy Eyes Boy for Tourism?

I actually heard this piece of news last night.

Noynoy wasn't my choice for President, but I was realistic. God knows my candidate was NOT going to win but I casted my vote for him anyway (no it was NOT Bro. Eddie!)

So Noynoy Aquino is eyeing Boy Abunda for his Tourism Secretary. Luckily for the rest of us, Boy fervently declined, saying that he would help the leading presidential front-runner in other ways instead as he still isn't ready to leave the showbiz world and enter politics.

It got me thinking, Boy Abunda's pretty smart to know his place -- and to not to mix showbiz and politics.

Read the rest of the story here.
