Beauty & Butter: A Modern Way to Get Pampered!

Beauty & Butter first caught my eye when I saw their unique billboard in Guadalupe along EDSA (you see how influential billboards to me are?) featuring 3 women in raincoats and umbrellas against a bright yellow background. I think it has been established that women find it very therapeutic to get their nails done when they have a bad day.

Park Han Byul's Tropical Fruity Nails!

I have to admit that even though I am totally addicted to k-pop, I only like a few Korean dramas. But I have to say that if  I LIKE a Korean drama, I am IN LOVE with it. I don't know, something about it being especially thought-out, and not relying on numerous cheap make-out scenes and just on the plot and the artists involved makes me like watching it.

One of those dramas that I have truly loved and cherished is Oh! My Lady, which stars Choi Si Won (from Super Junior) and Chae Rim (Dalja's Spring). As a tribute to its final episode, I will be copying the nails of one of the characters, Hong Yura, who is played by Park Han Byul (infamously known as Se7en's girlfriend):

Ugh, I couldn't find an exact screencap of her with those nails, so I guess this would have to do.I thought her nails were the cutest! Here's what you need:

A bright yellow and pink nail color will do. These are part of my old stock of nail polishes. This look doesn't need that much effort. Just paint your middle finger and your ring finger yellow and the other remaining nails the pink. Yup, that's it!

These are the nail colors I used, namely LA Colors' FUEL and Elianto's SUNNY DAY. The Fuel goes on right about 2 strokes, but you have to layer in a lot of strokes for Sunny Day since its a bit on the light side. But if you're using a matte yellow, then just adjust it until you get the right shade.

Well that's it! I thought this was a fun look for the nails just because summer's ending and most of us will be hauling ourselves back to school again. Have a happy final days of summer!^^

Saving Skills 101: Nails

Most have asked me where I get my nails done, and my usual answer is, "I did it myself!"This definitely surprises most, as my friend said, "Ba't ang linis!?" The answer? A cotton bud and a nail polish remover always within my reach.

While assessing my expenses devoted to aesthetic purposes (i.e. beautifying myself), I found that the most frequent purchase was a trip to a nail salon to get my nails done. Blame it on the lush interiors of Dashing Diva's Powerplant branch. I always found it extremely comforting to just sit back and let the ladies do their work after a tiring day in school. Unfortunately each one of those sessions cost more than 500 bucks, since my feet need to have their time being comforted as well.

I took it upon myself to start saving up on the little things, such as this expense.I don't know if its just me who feels absolutely comforted when she sees her nails a nice pearly pink or a brilliant bright blue. Nail colors nowadays are so cute and they give you that extra piece of happiness when you need it.

What am I suggesting? Learn to do your own nails! You'll be surprised to see how quickly you'll be coloring inside your nails and not beyond them. Just think, you spend around Php400 just on your hands, when you can buy a bottle of your favorite color around that price. And this bottle will last you for a really long time. I usually share my nail polish with the members of my household so its bound to be fully used.

I fully recommend getting the Caronia Princess French Tip set which retails for less than Php100. It already has 3 shades inside and it gives the classic french tip a sparkly touch. For those who want to invest, there's the usual O.P.I. shades (get the Pretty and Privileged shade from the 90210 set!) and the always brilliant China Glaze. The latter smells a bit funny though, don't  say I didn't warn you.
