OPI LIQUID SAND 'THE IMPOSSIBLE' (LIMITED EDITION MARIAH CAREY) REVIEW

Whenever I think about Mariah Carey, the first thing that comes into my mind is DIVA. So its really no surprise that OPI gives her a line that's called "Liquid Sand". This is a new variant from OPI which I believe would be coming out more in their collections.

PROSTYLE FUWARIE END CURLING MIST REVIEW

I've been looking for an inexpensive heat protectant product, and luckily I stumbled upon the Prostyle Fuwarie End Curling Mist while strolling around Beauty Bar!

Korea Post #3: (Must-See Places!) Nami Island

ll be sharing about our trip to Nami Island, which is located outside of Seoul. We had to take a train (different from the subway system, sorry but I forgot the place where we took this, but its the nearest train station from Myeongdong).

MAJOLICA MAJORCA LASH and BROW COLORIST REVIEW

Having dark brows and light hair has always been a problem for me. I have always tried to put a little hair dye on my brows (which I do NOT recommend for anyone to do because this may cause severe skin irritation OR burn your skin) to lighten them up, but it hasn't worked.

ETUDE HOUSE BUBBLE HAIR COLORING IN SWEET ORANGE REVIEW

I finally tried the Sweet Orange shade of the Etude House Bubble Hair Coloring! Its a brighter shade compared to the Natural Brown, and makes your hair tons lighter.

Charice Gets Her Face Done for 'Glee'

I can't believe they actually disclosed this.

Okay I'm not going to be a hypocrite and say that I totally condone cosmetic surgery. I even asked my mom to pay for my nose job if I pass the Bar (yes that's what I asked for, not a car, nor a house, I just want my nose fixed!).

I mean I know there was a time that Charice looked pretty unfortunate compared to the celebrities we have here, but hasn't that been fixed with great make-up and a stylist?
She has already gone from this:
 to this:
Is her face something that really can't be remedied by a few strokes of some bronzer and a highlighter? Dr. Vicky Belo apparently thinks not. Her face can be a little chunky, but she's only 18. I honestly don't think her face has developed into its full potential and has to be worked on.

Magkaribal: Fashion-serye?

Next Monday, prepare yourself for a new fashion-serye to unveil itself.
It's RIVALRY, VENGEANCE, LOVE and FASHION all in one show! We've been hearing the Tweet wars, now we'll see if the wars have paid off. Starring Gretchen Barretto and Bea Alonzo as sisters in fierce competition in the fashion industry.
And just because Derek Ramsay has to expose his abs even in the poster...(and they had to put Erich Gonzales in an ill-fitting wig)

And now, the longest trailer known to Philippine television, ready to tell you EVERYTHING that's going to happen in the series:

I gotta be honest, wala akong na-gets! But all I can say is...akin nalang si Enchong Dee!
Side note: Siyempre nanay na naman si Dimples Romana.

Krissy finally admits she recommended Boy to Noy! (BOY-NOY?)

So Kris Aquino admits that she was the one who suggested to her brother, (almost) President Noynoy to get Boy Abunda as his tourism secretary.
I honestly have no qualms at all with people who are in the entertainment industry to be involved with government work. But as I said in my previous blog entry about this matter, Boy Abunda is wise to say that he is not accepting this position in Noy's cabinet as he still wants to continue his contract in ABS-CBN and work as a TV host. That is the right thing to do.

You just cannot mix politics and working another job. Serving the country is not a part-time job (ahem Bong Revilla). But we have to face facts that a big part of tourism here in the Philippines, especially for our balikbayans is our entertainment industry. Just look at Korea and the United States. A number of their tourist attractions are filming locations, tours of the stars' homes, etc. These countries earn big bucks from tourists who go to these countries just to appreciate these places. Comparing these to the Philippines, a lot of balikbayans visit shows such as ASAP, Wowowee, to experience seeing the stars and even buy so many DVDs or VCDs of the series they watched through the Filipino channels abroad. So there is nothing wrong with getting someone from the showbiz industry to head the tourism in the country.

But that person should do it as a full-time job, NOT as a job on the side.

On that note, Dingdong Dantes CANNOT head Noynoy's youth projects. Is he even part of the "youth" at the age of 30!?!?

Noynoy Eyes Boy for Tourism?

I actually heard this piece of news last night.

Noynoy wasn't my choice for President, but I was realistic. God knows my candidate was NOT going to win but I casted my vote for him anyway (no it was NOT Bro. Eddie!)

So Noynoy Aquino is eyeing Boy Abunda for his Tourism Secretary. Luckily for the rest of us, Boy fervently declined, saying that he would help the leading presidential front-runner in other ways instead as he still isn't ready to leave the showbiz world and enter politics.

It got me thinking, Boy Abunda's pretty smart to know his place -- and to not to mix showbiz and politics.

Oscars 2010 Fashion: What I Loved!

I know a lot of blogs out there are doing their yearly Oscars fashion rundown, but I want to keep things simple here and just list down the dresses I like, and throw in a comment or two.

MOST UNFLATTERING CHOICE OF COLOR GOES TO...Amanda Seyfried!

I don't know about you, but maybe she should've gotten a self-tanner before she wore this dress. It just washes her out! Or maybe she could've paired the  gown with an eye-catching lipstick such as a bright red.

NAUBUSAN NA NG TELA AWARD GOES TO...Zoe Saldana

Okay I don't know what she was thinking, obviously she wanted to be unconventional which is why she went for this dress. But come on! The dress looks like it lacked the needed material which is why different fabrics and textures were used. I don't like it at all.

MY DRESS LOOKS FANTASTIC BUT I DID SOMETHING TO MAKE IT LOOK BAD GOES TO...(2 winners, wuhoo!)Miley Cyrus (or is it Billy Ray in a dress? She looks so much like her dad!)

Let's admit it, the dress looks like what Zoe Saldana's dress aspires to be when it grows up. The accessories are working with it, but then Miley strikes a pose and becomes a hunchback. Somebody teach her some posture!

Tina Fey

The dress has a flattering cut on her, but then we see a little pouch hanging around her middle, making her look pregnant, or that she just pigged out a nearby Burger King.

I LOOK GORGEOUS BECAUSE I HAVE WAVES GOES TO...Jennifer Lopez

J.Lo hasn't had a miss in years, and credit has to go especially to her, she knows what her body type is and she knows what just works! This dress shows us that pastel colors can also be worn by adults. Black can go to the tweens, but colors are a go-to especially in spring.

The actresses I surprisingly loved what they were wearing are:

Meryl Streep

She looks beyond regal in white. We all know that she isn't known for her fashion sense (unless someone is dressing her up in wardrobe for The Devil Wears Prada), but she pulled this off quite nicely.

Rachel McAdams

I don't know if anyone would agree with me on this, but I loved this gown. It just screamed, SPRING!!! Its my fave out of the whole bunch, looks extremely wearable for anyone. I love how its so laid-back but incredibly apt for the occasion.

The Adidas Philippine Range: Another Excuse to Wear Red, White and Blue Together

Adidas finally gives us another reason to wear our country's colors with their all new Philippine Range line (featuring Mr. Pogi himself, John Lloyd Cruz as the standard flagbearer). The product also has Iza Calzado, the boys from Boys Night Out, Chris Tiu, Lia Cruz, and Enrico Villanuenva among others endorsing it.

The jacket, shirt and bag is available this month!

At the risk of being called unpatriotic, well, I'm not really excited for this because I feel like Philippine icons and such have been overused these past 2 years. I know nothing beats wearing your country's colors proudly, but it just seems that every brand is jumping the patriotic bandwagon. Do you guys know what I mean? There's too much Ninoy/Cory paraphernalia (and we all know its just a secret code of Bench campaigning for Noynoy), red blue and white items, just about everything has to be Philippine-themed.

I feel that the country's colors are not as sacred as they used to be. I bet you can debate with me on this...you might say that at least the youth, the people, everyone else is finally cherishing our Philippine heritage. But maybe make them recite the Panatang Makabayan or sing the Lupang Hinirang in full first before we say that nationalism is really alive.

Wasn't there a law before that forbid using the Philippine flag's colors? Or is it just "wearing" it that was forbidden?

But...I might feel differently about it if someone gives me this bag:

The jacket costs PHP3,295 while the bag and shirt costs PHP1,495, available in selected Adidas shops.

The Search for Who to Follow Next on Twitter

What's great about having celebs in Twitter is that the website actually verifies their accounts so you'll definitely know if there's a faker lurking around unlike for other social sites such as the now extinct Friendster and Multiply.

If you're like me and you sometimes just look for who to follow next on Twitter, why not try following a local celeb? Admit it, no matter how sosyal you claim to be, when an artista is in the same room as you are you can't help stealing glances at them (sabay sabi ng: UY SI _____! Siya ba 'yan? Bakit ang iba ng itsura niya sa TV?)! Now its even better, you can actually see their daily updates and talk to them (some are extremely generous and do respond to your requests).

Well, Twitter doesn't exactly verify whether the local celeb is a true account, nevertheless judging from the same people who they mention in their tweets, you'll be assured that its the same person you see on TV.

SPOT.PH presents to you a list of the most followed local celebs on Twitter. Let's get the Top 5 and see what they have to say:

1. Anne Curtis

Followers: To be on top of the list means you have a LOT of followers, and as for her case, she has a total of 104,808 followers!

Following: Claudine Barretto, Zsa Zsa Padilla, an Anne Curtis Kapamilya fan club, Mar Roxas, Lea Salonga, Noynoy Aquino (ok we now know who she's voting for this 2010)

Tweets: 2,167

Best to take note of: How gorgeous she looks on her profile picture as well as her background. This girl is whooooooaaa.

2. Bianca Gonzales

Followers: 89,760, a far cry from above's over 100k.

Following: Oprah Winfrey, Efren Penaflorida, Iza Calzado, Gang Badoy, Noynoy and Mar (are all Kapamilya stars going to vote for them?)

Tweets: 3,361

Best to take note of: Her profile pic which looks like it was taken from her laptop webcam. Or cellphone? I honestly find her boring as paper (do not take those lines of...but she's an Atenean! She leads the youth!--ramblings with me. She's just boring!)

3. Ruffa Gutierrez

Followers: Its close to 2nd, but she's only got 82,546. Probably because her tweets are protected and you have to request to see them...which I did. What can I say I looooove this woman!

Following: Lindsay Lohan (loooove it!), Ivanka Trump (omg we follow the same people), Lady Gaga, Ricky Martin, Paris Hilton, Mariah Carey...see? Celebs love celebs as well.

Best to take note of: She guards her tweets unlike others who are found on this list. And this is the first time I learned that Gutierrez is spelled with only one T.

4. KC Concepcion

Followers: A mere 74,636 as compared to the Ruffita.

Following: Bianca Gonzales, Denise Laurel, former US Ambassador Kristie Kenney, Ruffita, Nicole Richie, Tim Yap, Britney Spears

Tweets: 498...wow has she been on Twitter just lately?

Best to take note of: Aaaaaaaack I hate this girl! I will never EVER follow her! She doesn't even know how to act nor sing, and I have NO IDEA why they still make her do it! And I am so sick and tired of hearing her say she's been to Paris. Wow yeah so have a million other people. Nobody cares!!! (Rant end)

5. Mariel Rodriguez

Followers: 70,863

Following: Yup, she's voting for Noynoy. Enough said. Okay fine, I'll be nice and I'll put in who she's been following. There's Valerie Concepcion, K Brosas, Sam Milby, Chokoleit, Kris Aquino (who never updates), and RR Enriquez who has this hideous picture of herself

Tweets: 1,174

Best to take note of: She favorited this tweet of her fan that said..."gorgeous_caren @itsmemarielt i think you have the making of next kris aquino.. you're both intelligent, witty and worth watching for.." Guess we now know who her idol is?

Other people you might be interested in following: POKWANG! Or otherwise known as Marietta Subong.

Or you can try...ME! Which celebrity do you love to follow and why?

Angel Locsin @ the Emmys

Angel Locsin was nominated for the category of Best Performance by a Female Lead for Lobo in the recent Emmys. She naturally graced the American press with her presence at the red carpet.

What was she wearing to this absolutely epic event? None other than this:

Okay I don't know why she's wearing a medal around her neck. Can someone enlighten me on this? The skirt looks like it's made from straw (you know like the lubid-straw that's used to tie balikbayan boxes) and it looks like she's sprouting tentacles!

Plus, her boob fat's showing:

Boob fat is actually that thing on the side of her boobs. That's what it is. I don't think this is the right neckline for her. She should've gone for the halter or the scoop-neck line. The dress makes her look fat! Am I the only one who sees this?

Her make-up was flawless though, snaps has to go to her make-up artist.

I guess she just made a statement, and that is: Filipinos aren't really known for their killer fashion sense.

Mathematical Equations with Krista Ranillo

So I was thinking of a topic to write about in my next post, and naturally my friend suggested the brou-haha over the Manny Pacquiao-Krista Ranillo controversy.

I think that my fellow bloggers have said enough over the matter and think it's high time we figure out why Krista Ranillo looks so damn familiar even if she hasn't been around for long! I finally figured it out last night:

+

=
Kekekekekeke!!! What do you guys think? Does it add up, or is it a totally wrong equation?

Presidentiable #5: Noynoy Aquino--OK I get it, celebs endorse you!

Check out the MV for Noynoy's presidential campaign:

Some notes:

1) I will never vote for anyone that Regine endorses, just because I remember her saying she is the "freaking Regine Velasquez". She needs to trim her hair or at least get some layers. That is one shagged up 'do. Whose idea was it to make her sit around a campfire, anyway?

2) Is it just me or did the kid change in the first part after she gave out the torch?

3) Sharon Cuneta...I didn't think she would get any bigger than her Smart billboard. But she did. Definitely in this MV.

4) Boy Abunda is like Kokuum, sounding out the drums of war!

5) Maja Salvador just stepped out of her ad for RC Cola with Kim Bum and into this shoot.

6) Someone didn't inform Bea Alonzo that this is an ad for Noynoy and not for Kasheica.

7) Greatest ending ever! A quick scroll of EVERYONE who made the MV.

I gotta be honest, I am not voting for Noynoy. Why? I just don't want to! I am entitled to my vote! This MV was painful for me to watch, it focused too much on the celebs rooting for Noynoy instead of focusing on the different sectors that was obviously just inserted into the video to try to prove a point (Muslim, fishermen, basketball players?). What is his platform? WHAT DOES HE WANT FROM US!?!? Okay, I get it, you're chummy with the stars! But what are you going to do?

I want a President who has a side and who can speak out his mind. I want a President who can see opportunities, take action, and make even a bit of progress for the Philippines. Is anyone out there qualified to do this? (No Erap, I am not talking to you!)

In Fairness to You, Sarah G.!

So I was driving on my way to my friends' Asian Fusion Day over at Manila Ocean Park when around 3 giant billboards of my least favorite singer caught my eye. First was this one:

The other was this one:

Of course both had her respective sponsors on it, but then again I thought she was promoting a clothes brand or something. But no, it was a poster for her upcoming concert entitled 'Record Breaker'.

Sarah Geronimo, unlike Charice Pempengco, knows when it's time to make an upgrade on her image because she, as well as her fans, are getting older. And IN FAIRNESS to her, these photos make her look more mature, and more importantly, FIERCE. Great job, Sarah G.! Charice Pempengco should hire your stylist so she can earn my respect.

I am loving the black and silver theme for this. But the font of the RECORD BREAKER needs work. But as long as she looks good, it's okay.

Take Me to the Philippines

This video was shown last Oct. 1 on MTV which is geared up to promote Philippine tourism as well as to gather funds for Apl de Ap's (otherwise known as Allan Pineda from Pem-peng-guh) foundation to help out the Typhoon Ondoy victims. This is actually a collaboration with the Department of Tourism through Sec. Ace Durano, with the project being called "Take Me to the Philippines".

I probably should commend the DOT for this video because this would surely spark more tourism in our country rather than letting Regine Velasquez belt out nonsense on-screen. But for me to truly appreciate them, they should think about taking down the tarps that mess up the roads because of the blatant early campaigning of Dick Gordon together with the tourist spots.

What I really appreciate is Apl de Ap's efforts to help out his country especially in our time of need. Love the video, it was very catchy and looks professionally-done. The colors are great and I think foreigners would like the fresh take it has on the Philippines: that it's hip, modern, and a place that can make you dance! Haha I was just kidding on that last sentence.

Watch and enjoy!

Eugene Domingo Delivers in Kimmy Dora

Hilarious. Eugene Domingo was finally given her own starring movie and was not designated as the resident sidekick anymore. Ai-Ai de las Alas can now shiver in her throne because there's a new comedy queen in town!

I highly encourage everyone to watch this movie, it is good for your laugh box. But get someone who's game for slapstick comedy.  You will definitely not be disappointed, nor be bored throughout the entire movie. Watch watch watch and support the Filipino film industry!

Presidentiable #3: ERAP, TATAKBO ULIT?

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! I remember seeing this ad and thinking how nutty Erap is, actually consenting to something like this. And then it suddenly hit me, like a pile of bricks that he is seriously thinking about running again.

Sure enough, yesterday the newspaper comes blaring out with the heading that ERAP IS 99.9% SURE THAT HE IS RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT. Is this guy insane? I have no idea. Do not let me get into the constitutional issues that abound this thing, because I bet it will all just go in circles.

Has everyone already forgotten the perjury raps? Can 1 ad cure everything that has happened in the past? During his presidency?

Hopefully not.

But I have to admit, Erap's face on 0:33 was one big HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA!

My thoughts on Mar Roxas' stepping down and allowing Noynoy to run as President soon. Still collecting whatever is left of my sanity. One thing's for sure though, I am definitely not voting Noynoy for President.

John Lloyd: The Leading Man for the Leading Watch

John Lloyd Cruz (the only actor deserving of my undying love) has been launched as the newest endorser for Swatch. As the other blogs choose to scrutinize on the unfortunate outfit he chose to wear for the event (i.e. orange pants with even more orange shoes), I, as his true lover, will focus my attention to this video about the leading man and the leading watch.

Remembering July 21, 1969: Gloria Diaz Shines Brighter than the Man on the Moon

In July 21, 1969, the world celebrated as images of the first man on the moon were broadcasted everywhere. Most were glued to their television sets, eagerly watching a new dawn for mankind.

Filipinos, however, were celebrating something else aside from this. Gloria Diaz, at 18, won the Philippines' first ever Miss Universe crown specifically after answering the question of "If the man on the moon should come down to Earth and visit your hometown, what would you do to entertain him?"

Enlightening the entire world with her quick response, Gloria Diaz said that she would offer the man on the moon a change of clothes, and perhaps a cup of coffee. Her charm made her win the hearts of the judges, earning her the coveted crown to her country's triumph.

How did the former beauty queen feel when she passed on her crown?

“Right that very minute onstage, I realized that nothing was permanent and that you were really, really replaceable. How can I ever teach that to my children? I don’t know. It’s very hard to have that awakening. As soon as I gave up my crown, I lost my limousine to the new winner. It’s a good thing that my mother had arranged for somebody to take us back to the hotel. They were still very nice to me but I was given 24 hours to vacate my room." (taken from Ricky Lo's FUNFARE article)

This line struck me the most because she speaks of what is mostly felt by most girls right now. The feeling of being replaceable is what haunts those whose confidence hangs in the balance, and of those who feel that they have to be different just because they have to.

I'm not going to be too optimistic here and say that no, you will always leave a mark on everyone in this world, nor will I harp the usual you-are-special speech. To be realistic, we are replaceable. A few decades from now the marks that we want to leave on earth such as our achievements, our wealth, our connections will all be forgotten. No matter how much we want to leave a legacy, it can only last so much as the memories of the people around us now do remember.

This will teach us all the value of humility. Too much pride in one's own self can make or break you, but knowing how to be humble and down-to-earth will always make one a better person. The fact that we can all relate to one another is a unifying factor: we might be replaceable, but we are never alone. Experience teaches us that everyone goes through what we do, and we must not be afraid to question and learn from those around us.
