OPI LIQUID SAND 'THE IMPOSSIBLE' (LIMITED EDITION MARIAH CAREY) REVIEW

Whenever I think about Mariah Carey, the first thing that comes into my mind is DIVA. So its really no surprise that OPI gives her a line that's called "Liquid Sand". This is a new variant from OPI which I believe would be coming out more in their collections.

PROSTYLE FUWARIE END CURLING MIST REVIEW

I've been looking for an inexpensive heat protectant product, and luckily I stumbled upon the Prostyle Fuwarie End Curling Mist while strolling around Beauty Bar!

Korea Post #3: (Must-See Places!) Nami Island

ll be sharing about our trip to Nami Island, which is located outside of Seoul. We had to take a train (different from the subway system, sorry but I forgot the place where we took this, but its the nearest train station from Myeongdong).

MAJOLICA MAJORCA LASH and BROW COLORIST REVIEW

Having dark brows and light hair has always been a problem for me. I have always tried to put a little hair dye on my brows (which I do NOT recommend for anyone to do because this may cause severe skin irritation OR burn your skin) to lighten them up, but it hasn't worked.

ETUDE HOUSE BUBBLE HAIR COLORING IN SWEET ORANGE REVIEW

I finally tried the Sweet Orange shade of the Etude House Bubble Hair Coloring! Its a brighter shade compared to the Natural Brown, and makes your hair tons lighter.

Presidentiable #5: Noynoy Aquino--OK I get it, celebs endorse you!

Check out the MV for Noynoy's presidential campaign:

Some notes:

1) I will never vote for anyone that Regine endorses, just because I remember her saying she is the "freaking Regine Velasquez". She needs to trim her hair or at least get some layers. That is one shagged up 'do. Whose idea was it to make her sit around a campfire, anyway?

2) Is it just me or did the kid change in the first part after she gave out the torch?

3) Sharon Cuneta...I didn't think she would get any bigger than her Smart billboard. But she did. Definitely in this MV.

4) Boy Abunda is like Kokuum, sounding out the drums of war!

5) Maja Salvador just stepped out of her ad for RC Cola with Kim Bum and into this shoot.

6) Someone didn't inform Bea Alonzo that this is an ad for Noynoy and not for Kasheica.

7) Greatest ending ever! A quick scroll of EVERYONE who made the MV.

I gotta be honest, I am not voting for Noynoy. Why? I just don't want to! I am entitled to my vote! This MV was painful for me to watch, it focused too much on the celebs rooting for Noynoy instead of focusing on the different sectors that was obviously just inserted into the video to try to prove a point (Muslim, fishermen, basketball players?). What is his platform? WHAT DOES HE WANT FROM US!?!? Okay, I get it, you're chummy with the stars! But what are you going to do?

I want a President who has a side and who can speak out his mind. I want a President who can see opportunities, take action, and make even a bit of progress for the Philippines. Is anyone out there qualified to do this? (No Erap, I am not talking to you!)

Halloween, anyone?

Halloween! It's such a fun occasion plus a great excuse to dress up in any extreme get-up you want! Who are you going as? I felt the Halloween spirit in SM Megamall earlier so I bought myself a Halloween Dilly Bar from Dairy Queen:

Stem's off because I already bit into it before I realized I wanted to take a pic! Sooo so cute!

Anyway if you have no idea what to do for Halloween this year, try these suggestions:

For the clubbing crowd, there's the BIG FISH Cream Halloween Ball happening at the A-venue Mall in Makati Ave. The event starts around 10-ish and they're giving away a Nokia 5530 XpressMusic phone to the winner of the best costume! For tickets & VIP tables Call 6327762 - 6348238.

But for those with kids and who are also young at heart, Rockwell Powerplant has its Wizard's House of Wonders on Oct. 31, 2009 at the Rockwell tent. Tickets are priced at PHP500 which is already for 1 adult + 1 child. Halloween fun starts as early as 11am!

But for horror-flick fans, here's a treat for you! There will be a Rockwell's Fright Night at 9pm on Oct. 31, 2009 at the R5 Level, Cov Courts of the Powerplant Mall. Tickets are at PHP300 each with unlimited ice cream from The Ice Cream Bar. This sounds like a cool deal to me.:)

Have a Happy Halloween, but don't forget to remember your loved ones who have passed away when November 1 and 2 comes around.:)

GMA: No matter how you look at it, it still looks bad

What greets you after checking your Yahoo! Mail?

This ad on the right side of your screen:

Completely surprised me! I have never known of a President who has ADS of herself in websites! Oh well, it IS the new millenium...but still!!!

Yup, that is our dear President hugging an unknown person, whose face they did not even have the guts to show.

Me, as a natural curious person, clicked on the link (but it suddenly occurred to me that SHE might be getting revenue from the CLICKS! OMGSSH), and guess what, it's a website dedicated for her!

Mar Roxas and GMA have got 1 thing in common: they love them oldies!

What caught my eye was this link when you go downwards:

You have a friend request from your president. NYAHAHAHAHAH!!!

Halloween post coming up soon. :D

October Make-Up Haul!

Someone is going to totally kill me for spending too much on make-up recently. But don't I deserve every little bit of happiness???
1) Laneige Snow Crystal Duo Foundation
I finally bought it! The woman was trying to convince me to buy the oil-free one instead, but my mind was already made up before she even said anything. It has a nice, dewy finish which is great for everyday use, not too matte but has great coverage.
Before you buy this, remember to tell the woman to apply it first on your face. Not just your jawline, but your whole face! You just test the color swatch on your jawline then when you've picked the right shade for you, ask her to apply it. Check the coverage and finish afterwards. Then don't buy the product yet! Walk a few minutes around the mall or wherever to see how it looks like after it sets. If you're still satisfied, go buy! I honestly recommend doing this to every foundation you buy. Don't be shy to ask the saleslady and test it out first because you have to remember that you will pay good money for a good foundation.
Anyway its a "duo" foundation because it has a concealer inside!

I think this is a good buy because you're getting 2 products in one. Plus it's the same shade as your foundation so it will be easier to coordinate the 2 shades.
The packaging: So cute, it has a snowflake design! (Bad bad pictures I know, my digicam cannot be found)
The inside of the box is PINK!
And the dispenser:The pump dispenser really saves you the product use and isn't prone to wastage. Really convenient!
It has a MANUAL inside! This is the first time I've ever seen a manual inside a make-up product. Don't forget to read this before using it!
So so cool, the things Koreans think about in putting into their product.
Plus all the freebies I got from Laneige from their different cleansing products:
I think you're only suppose to receive 2 samples, but the woman was so guilt-stricken because she promised me a free lipgloss for every PHP1,000 worth of products you buy. Unfortunately they were out of stock for that freebie, so I got many samples instead.
The foundation is pretty expensive, it's PHP1,800, but because of the pump dispenser, it would take me a year or so before I finish this. The price is a foundation AND a concealer, so it's a great buy!

2) In2it Extra-long Lasting Liquid Eyeliner
If you read my Aug-Sept make-up haul entry, I made a review on one of their liquid liners. I wanted to add that that specific liner made me nuts because the end tip lost its ink after a few weeks of use. Only the side parts of the pen remained in good working condition! How frustrating is that?! I tried putting on my eyeliner using the pen sideways but it was just hopeless.
So I bought another one, and since I'm a fan of cheap liners, I still went with In2it, getting their EXTRA LONG LASTING liner (I think this line was meant for me), since my ultimate problem is that my liner disappears during the day.
I wanted to do a sample swatch for you guys but I don't have a digicam with me right now so I wasn't able to. But it's on my eye right now and I've tried smudging it and everything, it still hasn't moved! I guess I'll only be able to do a test on how extra long lasting it is by tomorrow, but hopefully this thing will be better!
Costs PHP322.50 in Landmark, since there was an on-going Beauty Fair.

For next month, I've been wanting to buy the Coffret D'Or Combient Rouge 03, which is a nice orange-y color (not exactly the one on the picture on the right, but that's the product). I've tried it already and it looks nice, it has 2 ends, 1 is a matte lip stick while the other is a shiny lipgloss and you can either use it both at the same time, or separately.
It costs around PHP1300, so I'm still thinking about buying it or not.
Anyway that's it for this month's make-up haul! I should really put a lid on this make-up addiction...

In Fairness to You, Sarah G.!

So I was driving on my way to my friends' Asian Fusion Day over at Manila Ocean Park when around 3 giant billboards of my least favorite singer caught my eye. First was this one:

The other was this one:

Of course both had her respective sponsors on it, but then again I thought she was promoting a clothes brand or something. But no, it was a poster for her upcoming concert entitled 'Record Breaker'.

Sarah Geronimo, unlike Charice Pempengco, knows when it's time to make an upgrade on her image because she, as well as her fans, are getting older. And IN FAIRNESS to her, these photos make her look more mature, and more importantly, FIERCE. Great job, Sarah G.! Charice Pempengco should hire your stylist so she can earn my respect.

I am loving the black and silver theme for this. But the font of the RECORD BREAKER needs work. But as long as she looks good, it's okay.

Makati Shangri-La Circles: Turning me into a round shape has never been this easy

I was definitely more than ecstatic when I suggested to my boyfriend (whose birthday was yesterday) that we have his birthday dinner at Circles, Makati Shangri-La. Seeing that it was a Friday night and his office is just a walking distance away from the hotel, he immediately agreed. He hasn't tried Circles yet so it was a good occasion to spend money on good food--and plenty of it!

This is the 3rd time I've eaten in Circles, the last time was when I was still in college. I have to say it has never ever disappointed me. The array of dishes that greet you when you first walk inside the restaurant is definitely overwhelming.

My favorites had to be the lamb, the chicken shawarma, the salmon sashimi, and the shrimp curry thing. But I basically gorged myself on their prawn crackers.

I know, my boyfriend kept laughing at me because those were my prime picks. Don't blame me, that's how simple I am! But he looooved the food, loved the restaurant, and loved the good service.

The buffet is around PHP1400 net per person, you'll be surprised with all the added charges such as the service charge and the tax which approximately takes over 1/4 of your bill. Our total bill was PHP3,804.00 for 2 persons, inclusive of the tax and service charges.

I always recommend Circles for every special occasion that comes my way because their good food and service has never failed me. They have something for everyone there, whether you feel like going Western or Asian for your meal.

Might be a little pricey, but special occasions only comes along once in awhile! Also, they often have special promos with huge discounts on their offerings. I advise you call them for reservations so you don't have to wait, I called to reserve only a day before and we got to eat immediately even if we were quite early.

For reservations, call Makati Shangri-La hotel: (63 2) 840 0884

Arboleda: The Verdict is OUT

PBA Commissioner has let out his word: Arboleda is suspended for 1 year WITHOUT SALARY.

Wonder what he would do now that he's unemployed.

Arboleda- 1, Pacquiao- 0

Never has the PBA experienced so much excitement!

In a game against Smart Gilas just yesterday, Wynne Arboleda (I thought all this time his name was Willy, or is Wynne a nickname?) of Burger King walks to the side of the court during the game, and suddenly attacks a courtside spectator!

The courtside spectator was identified as Alain Katigbak, who is allegedly being dubbed as a friend of Chris Tiu, one of the players for Smart Gilas. (Or stalker? Who knows!) Apparently, the fan was continuously heckling the entire Burger King squad, as well as sprinkling in some profanities here and there.

All these occurred after Arboleda was slapped with a flagrant foul.

Intentional? Yes obviously. Arboleda purposefully strode to the side of the court, straight to Katigbak and it was showdown time. I haven't watched PBA since I was in college, and I really have no idea how Arboleda is as a person on and off the court. Is he this aggressive in all the games?

Some are saying that Katigbak was literally asking for it by sitting right behind BK while airing out his 'dissatisfaction'. But isn't taunts from the audience (fine, the sports crowd) all part of the game?

Now we can all turn this incident into something fruitful! It can a) bring more popularity to the league by encouraging more people to watch and anticipate if there will be another Pacquio-Hatton match; or b) it can bring more people in to watch the games live so they can see the action up close. Or of course people can just be turned off by the whole incident and stop supporting the PBA altogether.

(cue in Vina Morales' PBA Ito Ang Game Ko jingle)

Presidentiable #4: Chiz Escudero

Chiz Escudero just turned 40 last October 10, making him eligible for the position of President as mandated by our Constitution. He, as I see it, is the politician known for such tight shirts (see photos below):
See how tight that is? There isn't even any room around his armhole!

He apparently told Arnold Clavio in GMA's Unang Hirit that he will not speak of his plans to run as of yet. Citing concern for those who were hit by the recent typhoons, he added that now is not the time for talking about politics (yup and our Madame President in the meantime uses her Presidential palaces as evacuation centers)

But of course an insider has told me that he has already decided to run for President with Loren Legarda as his running-mate...after being in the lawmaking business for just a couple of years.

I personally think Chiz is too young to be our President. He's intelligent, yes. He's fasyon, fine, I'll give him that. But age-wise? I don't think so. Of course you cannot measure ability by age, but experience tells us otherwise. I think he's better off riding out another term as a Senator, but if he's so bibo in becoming President, let him do it!

There is a shortage of intelligent leaders in our government, but then again, I would rather have him craft laws in the meantime. Why is he in such a rush, anyway? What happens to him if he loses?

I remember he gave a talk to our class around last year and he informed us that on the event that he loses an election, he'll stop running. Hmmm...imagining scenarios where Chiz can fit himself is funny, here's a few things:

1) Become a matinee idol and be Angel Locsin's new partner (since Piolo has already been eaten by KC Concepcion anyway):

2) Replace Willie Revillame in Wowowee: (say it with me now, CHICHIZEEEEE!!!)

Hahahah...I seriously enjoyed doing this. What do you guys think? Should Chiz run? I honestly don't want to lose him as a lawmaker, but who am I to stand in the way of his political dreams?

Japeth Aguilar Finally Suits up for BK: PBA Hooplah

Manny V. Pangilinan has shared his words of wisdom, "Be part of the solution, not the problem."

So Japeth Aguilar has finally made up his mind and will be seen suited up for Burger King today, in the Opening of the PBA's 35th season

I'm sure most of you know all about the hooplah that Aguilar has caused when he chose to play instead for Smart-Gilas (the RP Developmental team, more on that I guess in the posts to come?), instead of honoring his being drafted by Burger King as the top over-all pick, with the PBA Commissioner (that dude he's with) attempting to get Aguilar banned from the league.

But because Aguilar is becoming part of the solution and not the problem, he has agreed to finally sign a contract with Burger King, which allows him to stay with the Whoppers for a year, afterwards he will be traded off to another team. (I heard the contract is for 8 million smackaroos, though I'm not sure on this.) He will also be allowed to play for Smart-Gilas for the 2011 Asia FIBA. Yes I know its confusing, I'm confused as well.

Anyway fact is fact: Aguilar will be seeing action later on in the season opener with his team going up against Purefoods. Will he be starting? That is yet to be seen because he has only been in ONE practice session with his team.

One thing I have to say: credibility of a person is extremely hard to maintain, especially if you're someone like Aguilar who's exposed in the public eye. He has to make good decisions and see through it if he wants to build up a good reputation. Yeah he is a good player, but in the long run, he's very lucky that BK and Gilas were both willing to fix things and avoid further conflicts. He should be careful in what he does next since his basketball career is on the line.

I am glad that MVP is showing primary concern for the future of basketball in this country, seeing as how Filipinos are crazy about it. Sayang ang potential!

LOL. I apologize for the lame-ass post. I was pressed for time to put this up since the PBA Opening is today and I'm mainly studying for my law school finals. I swear my next one will be more fruitful than this!!!

Collezione C2 MyPilipinas series: Being Nationalistic is Finally Chic!

Who ever thought that being nationalistic would ever look this chic?

Collezione C2 has upgraded itself into a hip brand featuring something that I would never thought to put on a shirt: the Philippine islands. With the height of being nationalistic reaching peaks lately, Collezione has definitely been the answer to anyone looking for a way to express their love for their country while looking mighty fine doing it.

The brand has a MyPilipinas series, which features classic collared shirts in different variations, my fave is the shirt dress:

I love how it doesn't make you look fat--seriously! That's why I had to get one for myself.

They also have a hoodie that comes with its matching sweat pants, perfect for working out and showing how proud you are of being Pinoy:

They also have limited edition dresses, one of my faves which is:

For the guys, they have the classic colored ones for the daddies and politicians who looove to show that they are thinking about the Filipino people. But of course if you're extra fasyon, you can get this:

Got this for my boyfriend, I have to say he looked great in it!

They also have something for the office, with this polo barong up for grabs:

Suitable for the security personnel of Malacanang.

I love how Collezione C2 can get by without advertising their wares because most of the newscasters as well as the politicians who appear on television are wearing them. It is literally a smart move, and I love smart businessmen!

Want one? Get yours at any Collezione C2 branch in Glorietta 3, Trinoma, Robinson's Galleria, and soon in Rockwell, Powerplant!

Take Me to the Philippines

This video was shown last Oct. 1 on MTV which is geared up to promote Philippine tourism as well as to gather funds for Apl de Ap's (otherwise known as Allan Pineda from Pem-peng-guh) foundation to help out the Typhoon Ondoy victims. This is actually a collaboration with the Department of Tourism through Sec. Ace Durano, with the project being called "Take Me to the Philippines".

I probably should commend the DOT for this video because this would surely spark more tourism in our country rather than letting Regine Velasquez belt out nonsense on-screen. But for me to truly appreciate them, they should think about taking down the tarps that mess up the roads because of the blatant early campaigning of Dick Gordon together with the tourist spots.

What I really appreciate is Apl de Ap's efforts to help out his country especially in our time of need. Love the video, it was very catchy and looks professionally-done. The colors are great and I think foreigners would like the fresh take it has on the Philippines: that it's hip, modern, and a place that can make you dance! Haha I was just kidding on that last sentence.

Watch and enjoy!

August-September Make-Up Haul!

I promised to do monthly make-up hauls, but this time around it's a bi-monthly one since I waited around for my birthday to get my hands on what I loved!!! So here are the new products I've been trying out:
1) The Face Shop Touch & Shine Dual Eye Color in Silver Navy
My friends gave me this eyeliner/eyeshadow stick for my birthday! The colors are very shimmery, and the stick is actually easy to maneuver. Not a big fan of the eyeliner side though because in 1 single swipe, it smudges and gets removed. The silver shadow side took me around 4 swipes to make the color pop out of my eye.
Very very good for beginners who are still trying to work their way around using an eyeliner as well as for girls who are not fussy with their eyeshadow (who is definitely not me haha). The color isn't that pigmented so you do need to use several strokes to get the color on your lid.
Costs around PHP300-400.
Oh ew I just looked back at the picture of my eyes and please just ignore the dark circles under them. I literally just applied the product on without any concealer, foundation or primer.

2) in2it Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner
My aunt was the one who recommended this liquid eyeliner to me, because I was looking for the next one I would use. As I said before, I'm not a big fan of expensive make-up products, and IN2IT is a cheap make-up line but with great quality.
I think they're having a sale right now in PCX, Powerplant. But anyway I tried this one and it had good results. The pen is easy to control (since I don't like the wand variety), and the color comes on well.
This isn't extremely long-lasting though, the color fades around 4 hours after application, which is okay for me because I prefer to touch it up whenever I can. Costs PHP350-400.
Had to check if it could handle my "2ne1" eye make-up that I use everyday. And it could!
The 3rd one I bought this month was the MAC Blot Pressed Powder, but since I already gave a review about it, I won't be including it on the list anymore.

4) Coastal Scents 88 Ultra Shimmer Eye Palette
I seriously don't know why it took me so long to put this in make-up haul post. I've had this palette for around 2 months now. If you look in YouTube, there are so many gurus creating art on their faces using the CS eye palettes, and there so many people also making reviews about it. I couldn't help myself, I just had to get it!
So it comes in different forms, there is the matte or the shimmer variety. It comes in 88 gorgeous colors, and I'm warning you, the ultra shimmer is really...shimmery! But it doesn't make you think immediately of sequins and feathers. What I like about it is that it's highly pigmented, which it should be because the pots are only around as big as a 25-centavo coin.
But it's such a bargain to get especially if you want to experiment with a lot of colors. I was able to get this for PHP1450 from Nikki, who is easy to talk to regarding her wares.

One foundation I've been wanting to try out is the Laneige Snow Crystal Dual Foundation, which is luckily already available here in the Philippines! They already have a store in Trinoma. Its a dual foundation because it can also be used as a concealer.
I'll be making sure to get my hands on it after I use up mine. I was excited on hearing that Laneige is already here because the beautiful Song Hye Kyo (the girl from Full House if you guys didn't know) is endorsing it.

Oh I wanted to ask if you guys like the new style, with pictures of me trying out the make-up hauls I buy. I thought it would add a personal touch to the way the products were presented, hence the pictures. The pictures aren't extremely HQ as well, so I apologize for that.
Also, I wanted to have product give-aways if ever it comes to the point that there will be more readers. Just thought it would be fun to spread the great finds I get!

Changes

I'm sure most of you have noticed the changes, but from now on, my blog will be named Pinay Tinapay, and is accessible through the url, http://pinaytinapay.blogspot.com. Description is there on the header to inform you the reason.

I just thought that due to all the things I wanted to write, I'm more of a "socially-conscious" person than a "glamour-conscious" one, so I thought it was best to take this blog into a different direction. The recent events have spurred me into thinking that the Filipino youth has a voice as well as hands, especially in nation-building.

So with that in mind, the blog will now be updated on a daily basis, considering that there are so many things happening in the Philippines RIGHT NOW!

I hope that these entries will encourage more feedback! Thanks for reading!
